Our Story

Let me start by saying that there is no doubt in my mind that this opportunity that presented itself was answered prayer.

In 2009 I was introduced to Sargent, a quarter horse in the early summer of 2009.  Sargent was being cared for at our friends barn in Greenwich while his owner was away for several weeks.  He didn't look well, seemed depressed and lacked energy.  He had loss of hair, raised lumps on his skin and open wounds from gnawing at his itchy skin.  They said he had an allergy to horse flies.

I was asked to visit Sargent because I am a Healing Touch Practitioner and my friend who owned the barn asked if I might be able to help.

After connecting with Sargent, I had a strong nudge to inquire about his feed.  I asked to see it, and although I had no background in horse nutrition, after reading the label, I could clearly see that Sargent was not getting the best nutrition available.

After having raised a child with severe allergies and asthma I know the benefits that organic, whole food nutrition could have on one's health.

So I sought out to find organic horse feed for Sargent.  Who knew how this would change our lives.

I called all the local stores and was surprised to find not one organic feed. Dog and cat food... yes, but not Horse feed.  I was actually astounded, that there wasn't organic horse feed!

I began to research the subject on the web and found GENESIS Organic Horse Feed grown in Saskatchewan, Canada, and was so sure that if I could get Sargent on this feed that he would be OK.

So after going through great lengths to get this feed Sargent transitioned over in approximately 7 - 10 days. Knowing what I know I would recommend more like 3 -4 weeks depending on the horse and his previous diet.  I also stopped all horse shampoo's and salves that contained any chemicals and only used all natural products.

So here's the happy ending... 

After a couple of days we noticed a difference in his behavior.  He seemed calmer yet more energetic...definitely feeling better!  In only one week's time we started seeing little lumps diminishing, less itching, and wounds healing.  We new we were heading in the right direction!

After the second week on GENESIS, we were seeing a dramatic difference in Sargent.  His skin was healing, new hair was growing and he seemed so much happier.

Needless to say when Sargent's owner returned after several weeks she was amazed at how good he looked.  I got a call from her a couple of weeks after Sargent went home.  She said, "He went into the lead today, he has never done that before."  She was pleased with his newly found confidence.  Sargent was clearly feeling better.

So Sargent is the reason why Charles and I are now Head of U.S. Distribution here in the U.S. and are devoted to sharing this wonderful feed with the equine industry!
