Ingredients:

OATS:  The oats in GENESIS™ are a special variety low lignin/high-oil groat making for easier digestibility than conventional oats.  The Canadian prairies finest, extremely clean, and heavy clipped oats.  Oats are the safest grain to feed horses.  What makes oats a safe feed is the fiber content – about 13%.  This means oats have more bulk making it difficult for the horse to overeat and get colic or founder. The higher than normal groat fat content in our oats results in greater energy density and digestibility. 
BARLEY:  Our hulless barley is rich in fiber, selenium, protein, vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids.  Barley contains essential vitamins and minerals, tocotrienols an antioxidant, and is an excellent source of dietary fiber, particularly beta-glucan soluble fiber.  Research has shown that barley beta-glucan soluble fiber promotes healthy blood sugar by slowing glucose absorption.
PEAS: Peas are an excellent protein source, have two to three times more protein than other cereals with a considerably higher Lysine content (an essential amino acid).  Peas have a biological value equivalent to soy protein, and are a very useful source of protein.
Peas are considered a resistant starch.  Although resistant starch is technically a starch, it acts more like fiber during digestion than a starch. Typically, starches found in carbohydrate-rich foods such as grains, fruits, and vegetables, are broken down into glucose during digestion and that glucose is used as energy by the body. Much like fiber, resistant starch "resists" digestion and passes right through the small intestine without being digested. Because of this, some researchers classify resistant starch as a third type of fiber alongside soluble and insoluble fiber.  So peas are actually an excellent source of protein and do not cause the blood sugar to spike and plummet.
FLAX SEED:  The flax in GENESIS™ has been tested at much higher protein levels, higher fat content, indicating a higher quality seed than standard feed flax.  Flax and flax meal contain omega 3, which is an essential fatty acid, and is high in thiamine (B12).  Foods high in essential fatty acids increases the oxygen holding capacity of the hemoglobin (the chemical that holds oxygen) in your red blood cells.  Flax has demonstrated useful anti-inflammatory properties, will help reduce joint inflammation, and may prevent arthritis and will aid in digestion.
FLAX MEAL: The flax meal in GENESIS™ is unlike other flax meal, and compared to conventionally grown flax, has two to three times greater oil content. Flax meal will impart a shiny coat and help with skin conditions.  Our flax meal is cold pressed, is more stable, and does not go rancid as conventionally milled flax does.
